Please read these carefully as bookings with Archaeologist Guided Tours are accepted only in accordance with the terms and conditions set out below. When you make a booking with us you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
PAYMENTS FOR DAY EXCURSIONS AND WALKING TOURS:
Full payment is required at time of booking. We accept payment by credit, debit card and PayPal payment. We can also accept payment by cheque, BACS, CHAPS or cash.
PAYMENTS FOR OUR ARCHAEOLOGY HOLIDAYS:
a booking must be made in writing using our booking form, and include a non-returnable deposit of £250 per person. If you are making your booking less than 90 days before your holiday, full payment will be necessary immediately. We will send you a confirmation of your booking, at which point the contract between us comes into existence. You have undertaken to pay for the holiday you have booked and we have undertaken to provide you with the holiday we describe on our website. Your contract with us shall be subject to English Law. If you make a booking on behalf of others as well as yourself, we shall take it that you have the authority of each of those other people to enter into that contract and that you and they have agreed to be jointly and severally liable to us. If we are unable to accept your booking, we will return your payment to you immediately. Payment of the balance is due 90 days before arrival, and we will invoice you for this approximately one week beforehand. We reserve the right to cancel any booking for which full payment has not been received 90 days before arrival, and to levy cancellation charges as set out in below.
DAY TOUR CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:
You must inform us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel a tour or other booking in whole or in part, returning to us any tickets already issued. On cancellation we will charge you a percentage of the total price as follows:
• Cancellation notified and tickets returned more than 28 days prior to departure - 20% of total value
• Cancellation notified and tickets returned between 27 and 15 days prior to departure - 50% of total value
• Cancellation notified and tickets returned within 14 days and day of departure - 100% of total value. Date amendments are not possible within 28 days of travel and will be subject to cancellation charges as above.
ARCHAEOLOGY HOLIDAY CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:
if you or any member of your party has to cancel your booking, we must be informed by telephone, letter or e-mail immediately. The cancellation only takes effect from the date at which the notification reaches us, and the following cancellation penalties apply:
Up to 90 days before arrival: loss of deposit
Less than 90 days before arrival: loss of full cost of holiday
DAY TOUR DEPARTURE TIMES:
It is your responsibility to leave plenty of time for your journey to the nominated departure point. Please ensure that you are at your stated departure point at least 15 minutes prior to the departure time. We cannot refund or rebook for you missing tours as a result of being late
DAY TOUR DOCUMENTATION:
Please ensure you have printed your ‘e-ticket’ which would have been emailed to you at the time of booking and bring along to give to your Tour Guide at your departure point.
IF WE CANCEL YOUR TOUR:
If we have to cancel the whole tour before departure because of unusual, unforeseen circumstances beyond our control or Underbooking, then we will refund all money already paid by you but you will not be entitled to any compensation for the loss of the tour. Underbooking is the situation in which the minimum number of bookings required to run a tour/holiday or holiday is not met. We will notify you no later than two weeks before departure for our day tours and 90 days before for our archaeology holidays where this is the case. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any consequential loss you maysuffer as a result of the cancellation of your holiday, for example travel expenses etc.
we carry tour operators’ professional indemnity and public liability insurance as required by UK law. We strongly recommend that you take out appropriate insurance to cover you in the event you have to cancel your holiday for any reason. If you are resident in the UK we will send you an insurance application form with your booking confirmation.
if you wish to make any changes to your holiday arrangements, we will do our best to accommodate you, provided you notify us of the change at least 90 days before your arrival date. Any change is subject to availability and also to payment of any associated costs of the change. If you cannot take your holiday you may find another person replace you, provided they take the holiday exactly as booked; otherwise our normal cancellation charges will apply. You, as transferor of the holiday, and the transferee shall be jointly and separately liable to us for the payment of the balance due.
please inform us of any special requests you may have at the time of booking. We will do our best to meet them, however we have no liability to you if such requirements are not met.
HEALTH AND FITNESS:
you must be reasonably fit and healthy to take part in one of our tours, which involve some walking and may include travel over rough terrain. If you have any reservations regarding your fitness for a tour, please seek medical advice and consult us in advance. Whilst we will make every effort to accommodate you, we can accept no liability for your inability to take full part in the tour.
for your protection and to meet our responsibilities under the terms of the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992, all payments made by you will be held separately in our Client Account until completion of your holiday.
Should you have any complaints during your tour, our staff will do their best to rectify your problem. If we cannot resolve your complaint at the time, you should email firstname.lastname@example.org within 28 days of the end of the tour/holiday.
Terms of Website Use
ACCESSING OUR SITE
Access to our site is permitted on a temporary basis, and we reserve the right to withdraw or amend the service we provide on our site without notice (see below). We will not be liable if for any reason our site is unavailable at any time or for any period.
You are responsible for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to our site. You are also responsible for ensuring that all persons who access our site through your internet connection are aware of these terms, and that they comply with them.
OUR SITE CHANGES REGULARLY
We aim to update our site regularly, and may change the content at any time. If the need arises, we may suspend access to our site, or close it indefinitely. Any of the material on our site may be out of date at any given time, and we are under no obligation to update such material. If you find any incorrect information please let us know and we will endeavour to correct as soon as possible.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our site, and in the material published on it. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.
You may print off one copy, and may download extracts, of any page(s) from our site for your personal reference and you may draw the attention of others within your organisation to material posted on our site.
You must not modify the paper or digital copies of any materials you have printed off or downloaded in any way, and you must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text.

VIRUSES, HACKING AND OTHER OFFENCES
You must not misuse our site by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material which is malicious or technologically harmful. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our site, the server on which our site is stored or any server, computer or database connected to our site. You must not attack our site via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of service attack.
By breaching this provision, you would commit a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and we will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them.
